#DDay75 – The Big One: Calling all 9th Battalion Families

No sooner are we past the 74th anniversary of D-Day, when the preparations must start for the commemorations in 2019 for the 75th Anniversary.

0930 – Ceremony at Le Mesnil Crossroads
1030 – Visit Memorial Pegasus
1300 – Lunch at the Merville Battery
1600 – Ceremony at Gonneville-en-Auge
1700– Ceremony at the Merville Battery
Return to hotel to change.…

Another veteran leaves us – Ron Tucker

It’s with great sadness that I have to report the loss of Ron Tucker of the 9th Battalion Parachute Regiment. He passed away peacefully today (25th April 2018). His daughter, Ann Sutton, quoted Ron as saying:

Last of the rear party, joining the main Battalion, at last with all my Brothers“.


Annual Reunion Dinner 2018

The 9th Battalion Reunion Club held its 2018 annual dinner at the Union Jack Club in London on Saturday 3rd of March.

Attendance was good, considering the terrible weather over the previous week, with committee members in attendance, and many of the veterans’ families, as well as a contingent from Merville-Franceville (including the deputy mayor Silvie, Pascaline from the Merville Battery, and her son – and the 9th Battalion standard bearer – Gaetan).… Read more...
