It is with a heavy heart that the committee have taken the decision to cancel the annual reunion club dinner on the 28th March 2020 at the Union Jack Club, as a result of the ongoing public health concerns around the spread of COVID-19. Given the large number of veterans and other older attendees, and the fact that those most vulnerable to the virus are the elderly, we decided that the risk was too great – particularly given the large numbers expected (ironically it was due to have been the best-attended dinner in many years).
We are in discussions about whether there may be a potential to reschedule the dinner for later this year, but it’s too early to say at the moment, based on both the developing situation with Coronavirus, and UJC availability etc. Please keep an eye on the website for updates, or if you use Facebook, please join the 9th Battalion group.
Currently we have no plans to alter/postpone or cancel the 9th Battalion 2020 Normandy D-Day Pilgrimage, but we’ll be monitoring the situation closely and will update should anything need to change.
Disappointing news but understandable.
