Another veteran leaves us – Ron Tucker

It’s with great sadness that I have to report the loss of Ron Tucker of the 9th Battalion Parachute Regiment. He passed away peacefully today (25th April 2018). His daughter, Ann Sutton, quoted Ron as saying:

Last of the rear party, joining the main Battalion, at last with all my Brothers“.

Carl McGee, also an ex-para, who accompanied Ron Tucker on many of the Normandy Pilgrimages and to other 9th Battalion events, put it best with his words:

Many people in life have a hero to look up to. I was fortunate enough to have Ron Tucker. A true friend, big brother, Airborne Dad. But most of all he was the beginnings of the Regiment in which I had the pleasure to serve. A man who loved and was in turn loved by anyone who ever met him. A true airborne warrior.

UPDATE: Some pictures from Ron Tucker’s funeral, at St Barnabas Church, Middlesborough, on Thursday 10th May 2018. A Very fitting tribute by all who turned up to give Ron the send off he truly deserved. An absolutely outstanding effort from the men who formed the bearer party along with the other members of the Parachute Regiment , both past and present.

Thanks to Carl for the pictures.
